Hi, I’m Terena
I am so grateful that you’ve found your way here.
Let me share a little more about myself.
My first home was a family cattle property in a small rural community in the North Burnett. I grew up as the eldest of 4 children, with a menagerie of farm animals and wide-open spaces to explore. My obsession with communication must have started at an early age. My mum enjoys telling me how I would talk to anyone who would listen including complete strangers in the shopping centre. I was always better at talking than listening though. Sorry about that Mum! Seriously though, for as long as I can remember I have cared deeply about others and their place in the world and now that shows up as an interest in how they can learn to thrive within workplace and family contexts.
My background is in education. Having taught across all year levels and in acting principal roles, I am passionate about providing opportunities for others to engage in personal and professional development. As an educator I have discovered the need to lean into difficult conversations for a greater purpose, in a way that preserves relationships. I understand the difficulties of communicating with the hope of making an impact while at the same time forming and maintaining productive relationships. Conversations that matter often involve strong emotions, requiring additional skills.
My enthusiasm for networking led me to work with professionals to organize health and wellness community events. Consequently, I developed an interest in counselling and family therapy. I am now a guidance counsellor and hold a therapist qualification in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), with a special interest in communication. I hope to share my knowledge and expertise in a way that supports individuals and teams to improve their communication skills and achieve a higher level of successful outcomes.
I am a lifelong learner and I hope that some of my passion and commitment to be a catalyst for positive change in the world rubs off and you too can experience new levels of satisfaction and success at home and in the workplace.
